Your wording indicates that you (perhaps) believe pedophilia is an
individualistic form of deviance. The actual instances are in indeed
performed by an individual. However, I think that as sociologists we can
probe to figure out what makes pedophiles exist in our society - which is
looking at it from a different angle than you seem to be.

My other suggestion is that use reference materials that are not "critical"
(there are a lot more of those out there) and turn the arguments being made
into your own critical perspective of the situation. Regurgitation of
someone else's critical perspective is less impressive than thinking an
argument through.
