To all members of the Critical Criminology Division
At the ASC meeting in Toronto I was asked by Roland Chilton to serve on the
ASC National Policy Committee, and then I was asked by James Austin, Chair of
the committee, to serve as liaison to the Critical Criminology Division.
While it was not clear to committee members in attendance in Toronto exactly
what the ASC should do with a national policy committee, we did agree that to
begin we should at least identify areas of research that the ASC might
highlight as worthy of consideration by criminologists. Given the diversity
of interests and positions of ASC members, this is not as easy as it sounds.
Therefore, the chair asked each of the members to contact a Division and to
get feedback from Division members about research topics they consider to be
important.
I would appreciate any thoughts or comments you have. Please send them to me
at hbrownstein@ubmail.ubalt.edu.
Thank you,
