Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice
(Justice Policy)
Division of Social and Policy Sciences
The University of Texas at San Antonio
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice: Pending budget approval, this
position is assigned to the criminal justice discipline within the
Division of Social and Policy Sciences. The substantive emphasis for
this position is justice policy analysis and program evaluation. The
Division of Social and Policy Science offers graduate degree programs in
justice policy, political science, sociology, and public administration.
Undergraduate programs are offered in criminal justice, political
science, sociology and geography. Requirement: A Ph.D. (or equivalent)
doctoral degree by August 31, 2000; [ABD's close to completion (less
than a year remaining towards the degree) may be considered for
appointment at the instructor rank]; and the candidate must provide
evidence of potential for scholarly research and publication in justice
policy analysis and program evaluation. The academic area of emphasis
for which the degree is awarded should be public policy analysis/program
evaluation, criminal justice, criminology or closely related field.
Preferred: Teaching experience at the college or university level;
formal experience in actual justice policy analysis/program evaluation.
The position involves research and teaching at the graduate and
undergraduate level in established criminal justice courses as well as
the creation of new courses related to justice policy analysis/program
evaluation. The applicant must be able to teach quantitative research
methods at the undergraduate as well as advanced or applied research
methods at the graduate level. The position is a full time tenure track
position beginning September 1, 2000. Interested applicants must send a
letter of application with vita, the names and addresses of three
references, a representative sample of written or published work,
quantitative summaries of teaching evaluations (if available) and
official copies of all academic transcripts. Applicants who are not U.S.
citizens must state their current visa and residency status. Application
