Recently I posted a request to members of the Critical Criminology Division
for suggested research topics to be brought to the attention of the ASC
National Policy Committee. I want to thank everyone who responded. Those who
responded typically began by noting that there are countless issues that need
to be addressed by criminologists. Just look at the number and variety of
topics named by the few people who responded and that becomes obvious.
Nonetheless, below is a listing of topics that were suggested. The emphasis
in most cases seemed to be on reversing regressive trends in criminal and
juvenile justice in the US. I will forward the list of topics to James
Austin, Chair of the ASC committee. Committee members are planning to meet
this spring to begin work on developing policy recommendations in three or
four areas. Your suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks for your help,
Henry Brownstein
