Folks --

I am a member of the August Vollmer Award Committee of the ASC, which is
seeking nominations for the award. At last count, there was only one
nomination, and more are welcomed. Please send them to me ASAP, preferably
with a paragraph or two explaining why your nominee meets the award
criteria. I have attached here about as much of a description of the award
as you are going to get, and perhaps more helpfully a list of previous
winners. Committee chair Jim Fyfe has made a few comments on the winners
who are perhaps less well known than others (although, anyone know who
Patricia Wald is?).. If you note a slight conservative or establishment
bias to these previous choices, you win no prizes. You will note some
feminist and African-American support in recent years, however.
