Dr. Cromwell,
Having received your "E"-Mail referencing a possibility of the Drug
Story being a possible hoax, I opted to do some checking with some of my
former "Sources" and came to the conclusion that the specific story that
was related was in all liklihood, a HOAX. However, some of my Texas and
Intelligence Sources have confirmed some of my prior investigative
experience.
It has been a documented fact that the various drug cartel's have been
infrequently using the bodies of deceased persons to assist in their
transshipment of their deadly drug cargo's (either in the caskets with
the bodies or in the corpses themselves). This particular activity
began during the 1965-1975 VietNam period when there were numerous
bodies of deceased US Servicemen and women being shipped back to the
United States.
Because of many of the controls put into place because of the practice,
as well as the lack of appropriate deceased Americans in other countries
(especially drug cartel countries), this practice has been reduced to
extreme infrequency.
One of my friends, a former German Bundes Grenschutz Gruppe 9 (GSG9)
Sniper, just let me know that while the specific Mexican Scenario for
the drug shipment was a bit unbelievable (and I tend to agree) he did
state that it tended to parallel an incident he had become aware of
while still a member of GSG9 (through his Interpol Sources). The
incident had occurred "Several Years Ago" at one of the borders between
Europe and the Baltic countries (he would not specify the countries
involved).
As Kurt said, about the only difference between the two stories was the
Country Border Towns, the persons/parties involved, and the time this
particular incident occurred. He stated that about the only reason he
could think of that it didn't hit the "International News Media" was
because of the countries involved did not want the embarassment and the
international incident that would have been provoked.
As Kurt's information is "Hearsay" (but tends to be more believable
than the previously relayed Story) I would need to do some more
investigation into the incident.
Anyway, based on contacts, the Mexican City Drug Story is in all
likelihood a HOAX that may or may not have been based on a possibly true
incident that could have happened several years ago - half a world away.
Sorry Dr. Cromwell (and all) for perpetuating a hoax that I hadn't done
more investigations on before passing on.
