3. 'Maxmur our Honour and what we had forgotten', the developed lifestyle in Maxmur camp after many sufferring.

'The Call Made to Sezer for Removal of OHAL', GUNGIAD (Association of Businessmen of Southeast Anatolia) Chairman Abdulkadir Akboz demanded removal of OHAL(Extraordinary State Rule) from Turkey's President of Republic Ahmet Necdet Sezer. He told that OHAL was nonfunctional in the area in recent period.
5. 'Silence for the tragic event in South Kurdistan', Platform for Democracy in Diyarbakir took action to investigate the massacre in South Kurdistan realized by Turkish army in which 45 civilian people were killed. The Platform established a delegation which would investigate the situation on the spot and prepare a report. If the authorities gave permission, the delegation would go to South Kurdistan on 29 August.
6. 'Congress day for HADEP', HADEP (People's Democracy Party) completed its congress in Bingol, Canakkale, Batman, Varto, and Bozova.

1. - Ozgur Politika - 'Kendaxor Massecre in Italian Media':
The Turkish warplanes bombing with Napalm on Kurdish civillians in Kedaxor, South Kurdistan, this month, still remains unanswered internationally.
The full page broadcast of the Kendaxor Massecre with photographs of those killed on the 26 August dated Ozgur Politika, was mediated on Italian newspapers, Il Messaggero and Liberazione, yesterday. Both of the newspapers criticised the Italy and EU for being silent on the massecre.
2. - Ozgur Politika - 'The Kurdish Prohibition is the year 2000's shame':
FP (Virtue Party) Diyarbakir MP Omer Vehbi Hatiboglu, indicated that, it is a shame in this period to discuss whether to allow Kurdish TV and education. Hatiboglu also stated that, 'Without tabuing cultural rights, we must debate in a democratic atmosphere. There could be no conclusion with the mentality that we are losing the state'.
3. - Ozgur Politika - 'Maxmur our Honour and what we had forgotten':
The Kurdish refugees that were forced to migrate from the North Kurdistan (Turkish region) in 1994 as a result of the Turkish stated violent pressures, lived their lives in Behdinan border regions, Ertus and Ninova area. They changed positions 7 times. The 9 thousand refugees that firstly moved into tents, later greened the dry plain.
They added small gardens to the houses that were built with sun-dried bricks. They formed small businesses. The people in Maxmur know the importance of education. Kurdish educaiton is taught till high school (secondary education). All the teachers are volunteers. The UN representatives are watching the camp life and the developed education in bewilderment.
4. - Kurdish Observer - 'The Call Made to Sezer for Removal of OHAL':
GUNGIAD (Association of Businessmen of Southeast Anatolia) Chairman Abdulkadir Akboz demanded removal of OHAL(Extraordinary State Rule) from Turkey's President of Republic Ahmet Necdet Sezer. He told that OHAL was nonfunctional in the area in recent period.

GUNGIAD Chairman Abdulkadir Akboz made a press conference at association premises relating with his interview with President of Republic Ahmet Necdet Sezer. Akboz told that they had presented to Sezer the reports about the importance and potential of tourism in Kurdistan's development, problems of the area and their proposals for solution.
Akboz stated their desire of achiving a new image for Amed. In his words: "OHAL isn't functional anymore. According to Sezer's explanations we believe that OHAL will be lifted in these days. Peace climate exists in the area, so there is no need for OHAL. Investors don't make any investments because of the bad image created by OHAL. Non-govermental organizations and the government should carry out their duties in this subject.
Tourism of Kurdistan Moved Backward
Akboz mentioned importance of tourism in Kurdistan's development and nonexistence of an initiative for protecting touristic places. Although peace climate exists, tourists don't visit this area. He went on with the words to the effect: "We informed President of Republic Sezer about the situation of the city walls. We will report our remaining studies to Sezer." Akboz told about presenting information to President of Republic about their works related to rehabilitation of children living on the streets and how to take measures to educate them for a career. He also called businessmen of the area to be sensitive in this subject.

Non-governmental organizations are indifferent
Advocate Osman Baydemir, Deputy Chairman of IHD (Human Rights Organization) and Spokesperson of the Platform for Democracy in Diyarbakir, assessed the news on media and information they have obtained about the bombed attacks by two war planes in Lolan district, South Kurdistan in which 45 civilian people were killed. In his statement Baydemir said with words to the effect: "Naturally this tragic event in which children, elderly and civilian people were killed is in contradiction with any humanitarian laws. For this reason a government or governments, claimed to be responsible for the tragedy, have not made a statement to this day. At least there is no statement appropriate for the seriousness and tragic consequences of the event. In fact we observe that national and international non-governmental organizations and humanitarian organizations were indifferent to the sad event."
6. - Kurdish Observer - 'Congress day for HADEP':
ANKARA
HADEP (People's Democracy Party) completed its congress in Bingol, Canakkale, Batman, Varto, and Bozova.
The delegates asked for steps to be taken in the direction of peace, and criticized building of Single Cell Prisons and the Decree with Force of Law (KHK) on civil servants.
The congress in Bingol was held with a large crowd. Mayors of Siirt, Bingol, and Batman also joined the delegates. HADEP party assembly member Cemal Coskun said, "We need to unify against those who want to interrupt the current peaceful environment. The solution to the issue is in democracy and brotherhood. The wish of people, in the direction of peace, should be taken into consideration. Bingol Mayor Feyzullah Karaaslan said the different treatment against their party should end. Mehmet Becerikli was chosen as the city chairman and the local artists performed for the delegates.
The majority of those attended the Canakkale Congress were women. The speeches were given in the direction of peace. Mehmet Sah was chosen as the city chairman.
In the streets on September 1st
Behcet Ozen was chosen was the chairman of Varto town in Mus province. Ozen said the Single Cell Prisons and Decree with Force of Law (KHK) on civil servants are anti-democratic. HADEP Urfa City Chairman Celalettin Erkmen said, during the Bozova Congress, that they will be on the streets with large crowds on the World Peace Day (September 1st), in Ankara and Amed. Huseyin Karatas was chosen as the town chairman.
5,000 people joined the Congress in Batman
Approximately 5,000 people attended the congress which was held in Batman's Esentepe Foundations. The crowd chanted, "HADEP is People and People are here", "No to Death Sentence" , "No to OHAL (Emergency Rule)" , and "Long Live Democratic Republic". HADEP party assembly member Musa Farisogullari said, "Clashes have stopped since PKK (Worker's Party of Kurdistan) have pulled its forces beyond borders of Turkey. As a result, important discussions have started. However, these discussions have to result in more positive conclusions. We need to learn from history and bring an end to the suffering of the people. The conditions have matured. We have to leave the important era of discussions and take more concrete steps. HADEP will be the driving force behind these discussions."
The NGOs showed an great interest and M. Siddik Cetinbas was chosen as the chairman.
