In response to Stuart's question about issues to be addressed in 1998,
below are a few suggestions.

1. I think we need to develop stronger ties with other divisions, such as
the Division on Women and Crime, People of Color and Crime, etc.

2. All of us should go out of our way to recruit new members, especially
students. Today's student is tomorrow's colleague.

3. Stuart listed some important steps we should take to eliminate gender,
race, and class inequality. Let's discuss these at the next Divison
meetings in Washington. What action should we take as a division? What
should we prepare for in the near future? What role can we play in the
broader scheme of things?

4. Before the next Division meetings, an agenda should be circulated to all
members. What will we discuss? Often we don't know until we get there. I
hate to say it, but we need a bit more structure.

5. More international participation is another important issue. Let's try
to get more input from people outside of North America.

6. Every two or three years, Collective Press publishes a book on timely
issues of interest to critical criminologists around the world. What should
be included in the next book? I'm sure that Brian MacLean will help
facilate the publication of such a book.

7. How can we facilitate better communication?

These suggestions constitute just the tip of the iceberg. I know that
people have many more and better ones.

Cheers,

Walter
