Steve,

Murray Straus has been working onthis for some years now. His book,
Beating the Devil Out of Them, may be of interst to you. He has also
published numerous research articles on the same topic. The punchline
(if you'll pardon the expression!) is that spanking contributes to
later problems in life such as clinical depression, juvenile
delinquency, violence in the home, low economic achievement, etc,
etc... Reading this might be a good start, and would certainly lead
you to others who are interested in the same phenomena.

Caveat: you should also be careful with the data, it has been soundly
criticised by lots of people.

regards,
Kim
