Hey,
I was alittle confused by the whole free will and determinism issue too.
Berger seems to be saying that we do have free will but yet we are still
influenced by society. So society does indeed push us along our paths but
since we are society does this make it free will?
I'm afraid I don't know the name of the person who wrote the last message
but I agree with your interpretation of the value free research. All
research will be biased in some way but we can take as many precautions
against it as we possibly can, even if we are all using biased opinions
hopefully we will be agreeing on them! Our interests will affect our
research but it has to start somewhere right?
Have fun with your papers everyone,
Louisa
PS If we are interacting with society then I guess it is free will-
does anyone understand this?
