Re: Objects and Symbols

My thoughts on this are flying like leaves in a storm in my mind, but I
did manage to grasp a few...

I think the unavoidable use of language is one reason why any and
everything must be in some way a symbol and is never able to be purely
an object. All the tangible things in our world are both objects and
symbols because society has given names to everything we can see, feel,
touch, smell, and hear.

However I do believe that something can be purely a symbol. Concepts
like love, hope, joy, etc. are not, in my un-expert opinion, objects.
They are different to each individual and so I don't think they can be
objectified.

That's about all I can grasp this morning, if I come up with anything
earth-shattering I'll let you guys know. Deal?
