This question may not make any sense, but its been bouncing around in my
brain since reading Mead's views on the self taking on the roles of
others in order to look at itself from a different perspective. My
question is; is the entity that is using another person's perspective to
look back on itself and determine how others view it the same entity that
detatches itself to look at its true self( without looking through the
eyes of others)? If the two entities are different, would the one
concerned with looking at the true self even care about how others view
its self, since no one else could ever possibly know your true self but
you? I guess what I am asking, basically, is there more than one
subjective self and if so do these seperate selves serve entirely
different purposes or do they interact with each other? Just something to
think about.
