Alexander (and everyone)

I am totally swamped at the moment with papers, a recording project
and defending my dissertation (april 9) and feel bad about
not getting back to Alexander in a timely manner.
Oh well. As a way of excusing myself I offerr these readings:

For Simmel take a look at Wolf, Kurt (trans)1950. The Sociology of
Georg Simmel.
The dialetic of from, and the relationship between form and content,
is central to Simmels sociology. In fact, it is his sociology.
This nonsense that we are taught in undergrad classes about
Simmel and the dyad is just crap.
Simmel Rules!

MY take on Baudrillard is based primarily on
his book _The Transparency of Evil_ and the
chapter called Requiem for the Media in
For a Political Economy of the Sign.
However, if you understand Baudrillard as a Simmeliam
Formalist (which I obviously do) you will find that
all of his work makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Margarete and I outline our position on this
in the Fatal Forms article I mentioned in my last post.
The article is published in Kellner, Douglas.(ed) 1994. Baudrillard:
A Critical Reader. Oxford, UK/Cambridge, MA. Blackwell.

I'd be glad to send you a reperint, ALexander, just let me have your address.
