I am not really sure what Betty's question is so I will respond to the stigma
question. I did research last year on the changing sexual habits of freshmen
women. The basic gist of it was an exploration of the "hook up" and its
effects. Most of the girls who said that they hooked up A LOT did not feel
stigmatized by other girls or guys, but from what I heard going on around them
they were stigmatized as easy or whatever. I don't know that they internalized
their stigmas but I think they dealt with it in different ways. A couple of the
girls said they liked hooking up but upon further investigating they said they
felt pressured into doing it and they didn't really like hooking up-- they liked
the affection and attention that they got. I don't know if that helps or hurts,
but that is my input.
