Chrissy,
I think you could be stigmatized and maybe not know it if you were living
in your own world. For example if you are crazy(bad way to put it but you
know what I mean...:)), you would maybe not know that people think of you
differently. I'm not suggesting that your friend is crazy, it was just a
thought I had about a possibility for when you may be oblivious to the
stigm. I was stigmatized in highschool for being german when I lived in
england but I certainly knew about it.
