I really do not want to think that television is that much of a social
control that will even dictate our emotions, however I see what you are
saying Andrea. You rarely see the male in a situation portayed on
television as one that tells the truth. Again using the television
example, a great example of this is the program "Dream On". If you are
unfamiliar with the show, the main character is this "nice guy" that gets
himself into all kinds of situations. Basically the part I am refering to
is the flashbacks into old programing. Instead of potraying him as a guy
with feelings, they use old movie clips to let you know what is going on
in his head. He seems fine on the surface, but you can see what is going
on in his head (usually something different). But at the ame time, I
don't think that all guys are "macho". I guess it just depends how much
TV they watch :)
