My own view is that student participation would be an excellent idea,
because a) It would give them an opportunity to interact with others,
and b) it would be a means of "outreach" and expanding SSSI visibility.

The downside is that it would increase the volume of this list in a way that
some might find tedious, and the quality and content of the posts might not
be of interest to most.

This leaves two options:

1) Try it temporarily and see how it works
2) Set up a separate SSSI student list.

I would recommend setting up a separate sssistu list, with Jon as
"list owner." Then, we can encourage our students to participate as we
wish without worrying about cluttering up the sssitalk list.
