non-symbolic interaction

I am trying to organize a course for a community college which deals with
non-verbal behavior. Herbert Blumer's concept of non-symbolic interaction
seems to fit into this category. Yet little has been written on the concept
apart from Blumer himself, as for as I can tell. If anyone out there knows
of any references, I would appreciate knowing about them. Also, if anyone
has any general suggestions about this concept--either what Blumer had in
mind or how the concept applies to the current situation, these would be
appreciated.
