New threads for old

I enjoyed Jon's discussion of his growing up, his GenX responses to the
sixties, etc. I forget the ostensible purpose of this list, but I'm not
entirely sure that it was limited to philosophical discussion of SI [si?]. It
seems to me that it also included general discussion among members of SSSI,
although i could be wrong.

A couple or three years ago, on the qualres list, people got into discussing
their educational backgrounds for qualitative research. I think Becky erickson
sparked that thread, didn't you Becky? That list had a lot of education people
on it, and that particular discussion got boring soon, since it seemed everyone
had had an epiphany rather similar to everyone else's.

I'd like to learn more about people's backgrounds, though. How did people get
into SI? What was everyone doing in the 60s? [I was married to an Associate
Professor, soon Professor, of Business, with two little children, so i mostly
watched].

Mike flaherty and i are still involved with the project to document the
founding of SSSI, but it does not include the second generation members, et al.
Perhaps it would be out of line, or boring, to discuss that here, but if we
label it "Peoples' Backgrounds" or something, anyone not interested could skip
it.

As could everyone, for that matter.
