I'm a newcomer to this list, but I am looking forward to becoming part of
your learning community. I wonder if anyone can help me. I am a doctoral
research student at Aberdeen University, Scotland, UK, where I am studying
various aspects of mental health. I have just finished an excellent book
by a sociologist by the name of David Karp, called *Speaking of Sadness.*
Karp uses the perspective of symbolic interactionism to offer insight and
understanding into the experience amd meanings of depression. I wondered
if anyone had
come accross any other reasonably contemporary literature which looks at
mental health and illness from the perspective of SI
If you could help me I would be very grateful.

All the best

John
