Thanks, but this isn't quite what I was after. I realize
that JavaScript makes it possible to scroll a message along
the bottom of the browser. What I was after was a scrolling
text within the body of the document. Apart from the
<MARQUEE> tag, the only way that i know of to scroll text
within the body of a document is to create an animated .gif
file.

BTW, there is QUITE a difference between JAVA scripts, and
the JavaScript scripts which you will find at the
htmlgoodies site ;-)

Also BTW, for info on the <MARQUEE> tag, see
http://www.winsite.com/info/pc/win95/netutil/hs25set.exe/MARQUEE.HTM

Actually, there are a couple simple java scripts that will
also create
scrolling text fields. The ones I found were at
www.htmlgoodies.comn/javagoodies/ -- and there are a variety
to choose
from. you can also set up a text field which will display a
set number of
messages at a set frequency (at the same general site; I
used one on an
early version of the English home page
(www.niu.edu/english/test2.html)).
Hope this helps :)
