We have had a lot of people express interesting in learning
more about Webmasters. Many did not know of the group's
existence and others thought it was only made up of
"technical" people.
If possible, I was hoping we could hold our last Webmasters
meeting of the year on November 19th, and I would invite all
the responders to attend so they could get a sense of what
we are about.
Although possibly a bit "basic" to some of you, I was
thinking the next meeting could be an overview of basic web
products. Ideally I was hoping to divide up the
"presenting" task among 3 or 4 people with one person
spotlighting web editors, another web graphic tools, another
web server software, and perhaps one on java, etc... (the
basics) since that seems to have some value based on recent
discussion. We may also want to include a segment on how
one "educates" themself to Web development.
Each mini-presentation would be no more than 15-20 minutes
and wouldn't require tremendous detail in the presentation,
mostly just a little show-and-tell. We could clip the
presentations a bit and leave extra time to solicit opinions
and feedback from meeting attendees on their experience with
each. A detailed handout listing options and sources and
costs would give everyone a nice resource to leave the
meeting with.
What I would appreciate hearing from this group is:
1) does this plan have merit? and (more importantly)
2) who among you would be willing to take 1 of the segments?
If we are to have the meeting on the 19th it would be ideal
to have at least the general meeting plan settled this week
so I can be sure to invite all the survey responders who had
an interest.
Let me know!
Thanks.
