I have used MathType in the past to set equations. It works nicely.
It is available for Windows and MacOS.
You might recognize it if you have used the Equation Editor
used in most word Processors.
MathType will also create TeX/LateX streams.
Their new version (v4.0) will produce MathML.
They have a nice description at "http://www.mathtype.com/market/mathml.html".
MathType was created by Design Science.
Their web pages list many other products besides the standard word processors
that use the Equation Editor.
