In the Reavis Journalism Lab, the new page arrived washed-out, with the
set-of-four color pictures mottled black and red. This is how NIU
students in the computer labs will see it. And the red buttons at the
bottom were either just barely visible or below the bottom of the
screen, making them invisible. The graphic needs to be a half-inch
shorter.
At home, in Windows 95 over a 57600 modem, the new page took nearly 40
seconds to load. I wonder how long a high school prospect, using a
slower modem, would wait. The repetitive non-graphic text is essential
if the graphic takes so long.
