The Division of Continuing Education is offering a free satellite
broadcast of a PBS/SCUP sponsored program titled "Creating Tomorrow's
Learner-Centered Environments--Today." Learner centered environments
encompass more than physical space and technology infrastructure--they
include programs, processes and relationship that are
multi-dimensional.
Join us on October 22, 11:30 - 1:30 in the distance learning room in
Gabel Hall (Room 8) for a live broadcast hosted by Donald M. Norris, a
leading authority on how we live, work and learn in the Knowledge Age.
Norris will question a panel of experts including Clara Lovett,
President, Northern Arizona University, Freeman Hrabowski, President,
University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Jacquelyn Belcher,
President, Georgia Perimeter College and Sally Johnstone, Director,
Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications.
Videotaped examples and discussion will focus on:
* Developing programs that anticipate the future by evolving rapidly
and continuously
* Creating facilities that blend learning, work, recreation, personal
development, and other functions
* Establishing relationships that help organizations as well as
individuals to assess learning needs, create customized learning
solutions, and measure outcomes--becoming a "learning agent"
* Incorporating technology and communications infrastructure to create
synergistic educational experiences
Print materials will be available to participants prior to the
broadcast. For a full week following the program, key presenter Don
Norris will be available for dialogue with conference participants via
the Web.
Brown bag lunch; drinks provided.
