All *normal* browsers are HTML compliant - I don't know about
NetScape.

The latest finalized version is 2.0, if you write to that you are doing
everything you can to reach all people. When 3.0 is finalized you can
write to that.

This whole thing is about STANDARDS, and it is no different than
CD-ROMS. If people in the industry did not get together and agree on
formats for CD-ROMS, they would not have penetrated the market to the
extent they have. If you want to "go your own way" , that is fine, but
don't expect everyone else to follow you. When this all shakes out, I think
the standards will prevail just as VHS was standardized (by having
broad industry support) and Sony went it's own way with Beta.
