about 85% of the browsers visiting our site use Netscape of one type or
another, then Lynx, like 4%, after that, its a mess of browsers most of
which I've never heard of.

I havent seen backgrounds mess up any other browsers? If this were the
case you wouldn't be able to go to any page. I haven't seen many lately
that *dont* have backgrounds, well except for most of niu's.

True, you do have to be careful with the cowspan and colspan extensions
to the table tags. It can make an awful mess in Mosaic. Its also a good
idea to look at pages with table in some non table browsers to see where
you might need breaks or to see where you might need to rearrange thing
so they apear in the correct order in those non-table browsers.
Anybody waiting for Netscape 2.0 (due out this week) and the mess thats
going to make with the new extensions/plugins/tags/etc.
