The "campus administration" will never get its homepage act together
as long as those who make policies for, and speak on behalf of,
Lowden Hall believe they can act as an unaccountable invisible tribunal.
The recent homepage policy fiasco, which required over six months and
at least a half-dozen high-level administrators to produce a flawed
document that could have been done by one of us in 15 minutes,
reflects problems of policy making and communication that extend
well beyond the homepage issue.
The silence of the invisible tribunal in refusing to address basic
questions is not something that can be ignored. Steve and Aline raise
additional (unanswered) questions, and none of my original questions
were addressed. The "chair" of the invisible tribunal publicly
expressed surprise that he should have to be responsive to his
constituency.
My point? On no account should that committee again be given a
policy-making mandate for issues of this kind.
